About our BEE Rating
The Packaging Source and BEE
THE PACKAGING SOURCE is committed to the policy of Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE). We believe that this initiative will contribute significantly to the promotion of short, medium and long term socio-economic stability in our country. For this reason THE PACKAGING SOURCE is registered on the National B-BBEE Registry, hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) on their B-BBEE website (http://bee.thedti.gov.za ).
The dti have provided the National B-BBEE Registry as a free central repository of all B-BBEE certificates /certifying letters (certifying letters issued by accounting officers or auditors are a valid form of B-BBEE compliance for Exempted Micro Entities - EMEs).
The DTI will only post the certificate / certifying letter of qualifying companies on the National B-BBEE Registry, after first carrying out an authentication process, and then the company is issued with a Unique Reference Number (URN).
All our current and potential customers can retrieve
our B-BBEE credentials from
the National Registry using our URN: BEE2521345
THE PACKAGING SOURCE is listed as an Exempted Micro Enterprise (EME) and automatically qualifies as a Level Four Contributor to B-BBEE.

When doing business with us, it is important that you too furnish us with your URN number...
Why does THE PACKAGING SOURCE want me to obtain a dti B-BBEE status?
Amongst other B-BBEE scorecard elements, THE PACKAGING SOURCE needs to monitor its own Preferential Procurement progress. For this reason, all service providers need to provide their B-BBEE credentials. B-BBEE compliant entities can positively contribute to THE PACKAGING SOURCE'S own B-BBEE score.
What if I already have a B-BBEE certificate?
the dti website and national registry serve as a central repository of B-BBEE information. There are many benefits attached to registration primary of which is that the dti carry out a validation process with the issuers of certificates. This provides the comfort that the certificates and letters of exemption, from auditors and accounting officers, are not fraudulent. It also assist you in that you only need to maintain your credentials in one place, and all your clients can retrieve your credentials from the National B-BBEE Registry using your URN which never changes once issued.
What if I already have a dti URN?
Simply send an e-mail with your dti Unique Reference Number to us.
What if I am a small business with no B-BBEE credentials?
If your annual turnover is below R5 million, your business is classified as an Exempted Micro Enterprise (EME) and automatically qualifies as a Level Four Contributor to B-BBEE. The Preferential Procurement scorecard incentivises South African businesses to procure services from EMEs. If your turnover exceeds R5 million but falls below the R35 million mark, your business is classified as a Qualifying Small Enterprise (QSE) and needs to only comply with any four of the seven elements of the B-BBEE scorecard to be fully compliant (the dti site will guide you in this regard). Your registration and presentation of your dti URN is still required by THE PACKAGING SOURCE.
What if my company is not B-BBEE compliant?
THE PACKAGING SOURCE acknowledges that transformation is not an overnight process. We do, however, require that your entity strives to achieve maximum B-BBEE compliance. Your B-BBEE compliance and status is still essential to THE PACKAGING SOURCE.
We believe that your BEE rating is not about who you are,
but about what you do to bring about change in the transformation process..
Can I update my B-BBEE status?
You can update your B-BBEE status as many times as you like with the dti. Your URN will not change; you only need to give all clients your dti URN. They can then download your most up-to-date information from the National Registry as and when they need it. This benefits you and your clients.
